The NEHA Board of Directors allocates time in the spring to meet with senators and representatives on Capitol Hill to educate, discuss, and present information on environmental health issues. The purpose is to garner support for environmental health. This year, due to the pandemic and other events, the NEHA board will be having virtual meetings for this purpose. This month’s column from NEHA President Sandra Long highlights the work NEHA does—through its annual Hill Day, policy and position statements, and other activities—to advocate for the profession. She also calls for all environmental health professionals to not only take an interest in environmental legislation but also be stewards of the profession and voice input on the issues raised.
