NEHA Position Statements
Unlike policy statements, position statements reflect NEHA’s position on certain concerns and actions that the association will undertake. These statements have been vetted by NEHA and adopted by the NEHA Board of Directors as official actions or direction of the association. These statements set forth NEHA’s beliefs on a specific subject related to environmental health.
These positions remain active for 3 years from their adoption by the NEHA Board.

NEHA supports National Food Safety Education Month and is dedicated to reducing the burden of disease caused by foodborne illness and supporting food safety education through training, credentialing, and partnership.
The U.S. EPA holds SepticSmart week every year in order to promote proper care of septic systems. NEHA is an MOU partner of the EPA Decentralized Wastewater group.

One of the foremost methods to promote public health and wellness are vaccines. NEHA encourages its members and the entire environmental health community to get vaccinated for COVID-19 at the first opportunity and to actively promote vaccination among the communities they serve.

NEHA encourages the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to consider the need for identifying non-traditional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) consumers, such as environmental health practitioners, to maximize the effectiveness in the distribution of critical medical resources nationwide to respond to pandemics in general, and COVID-19 specifically.
